I continued to go by Seamaiden but I was joined by a Libra boy when we met in a Japanese summer language class in Colorado. He was one of those
rare Colorado natives, while I was an import from Seattle, but somehow we fit together just right.
Our first date was on June 17th of 2000. Six months later, Justin and I went on a trip through Europe from Brussels to Italy. We spent the New Years Eve in
front of a drizzling Eiffel Tower in Paris, and then ended our trip in front of the Trevi Fountain in Italy, where Justin proposed. I said yes, and the engagement
was on!
What was next? That winter I found myself with the hardest job of my life- teaching two classes as a temporary professor at another University.
I spent a lot of stress filled days and nights, but had my own classes (on Taoism and Buddhism, and on Religions of Asia) for the first time. It was great!
Justin was incredibly tolerant. I also had a total sweetheart of a roomate named Katie. Justin and I applied to the JET program to teach English in Japan,
and planned a beautiful wedding in the mountains of Colorado.
